eBay Feedback: Require buyers to contact sellers (and give them a reasonable amount of time to respond) BEFORE leaving negative or neutral feedback.
Most eBay sellers are completely honest and are not trying to rip anyone off. And yet, what often happens when there is a mistake with an item (an item breaks during shipping or was defective from the beginning, there was a problem unknown to the seller, or quite honestly a buyer didn't bother to read the seller's description), the buyer leaves negative or neutral feedback, giving the seller no chance to address the problem. This issue is especially common with new eBay buyers who may not understand how the feedback system works or how detrimental their feedback can be to honest sellers. Buyers have a right to leave whatever feedback they deem appropriate, but by not contacting the seller first, no one is happy! The buyer may be stuck with a defective item (or no item at all), and the seller gets bad feedback. If eBay required buyers to contact their seller when they have a problem (and give the seller a reasonable amount of time to respond) rather than just leaving negative or neutral feedback, they might actually be pleasantly surprised by how things work out! Let's create a BETTER eBay community and improve the trust between eBay's buyers and sellers.
