Free Ehsan
Ehsan Abdoh Tabrizi, PhD student at the School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University, and former MA student in History at the University of Essex, has been in prison in Iran since mid-January 2010. He was detained after travelling to Tehran during the holidays to visit his family, and in particular his ailing mother. It appears that Ehsan has spent long periods in total isolation and is yet to be charged, allowed legal representation or visitors. The fact and circumstances of Ehsan’s return to Iran as well as his continued detention suggest his innocence. In this light, and in view of basic human rights enshrined in international and Iranian laws, we believe that Ehsan Abdoh Tabrizi should be released immediately and allowed to return to the UK to resume his PhD research at Durham.
