Marlin Apartments must ensure better security at Empire Square
Concerned residents of Empire Square petition Marlin Apartments to take steps to ensure the safety of the permanent residents of Empire Square.
On the morning of the 4th of August 2019, a fight started among guests and visitors of one of Marlin Apartments' serviced flats on the 4th floor of Empire Square East. Three young men suffered stab wounds and a teenage girl was pushed from the 4th floor landing in front in the lifts, landing on the ground floor.

Thankfully none of the injuries was life threatening, but the scene was chaotic and traumatic for those residents who witnessed this event and helped the injured girl. The police and emergency services responded quickly to take care of the injured, make arrests and ensure the block was safe for all the individuals and families that live here. Also, Veronica from First Port was very helpful. Nevertheless, this event should not have happened.
Marlin Apartments should have taken better precautions to screen residents and limit the number of visitors. Join your neighbours by signing this petition to demand Marlin Apartments acknowledge what happened today and take steps to prevent anything remotely similar in the future. We demand Marlin Apartments tell us, the permanent residents of Empire Square, what steps they plan to take to increase security and screening of renters.
