Receipts are bad for the environment and here is why i would like to get rid of them.
About half of all receipts can't able to be recycled because they are covered with a toxic substance called bisphenol.
Also about it takes about 10 billion trees, 1 billion gallons of water and 250 million gallons of oil to make them.
One way to get rid of them is that stores should only give receipts when people ask for them, and instead use emailed receipts for people that want them.

I honestly thought this would just be a small note to myself about waste, but seeing so many of you connect with this issue has been surreal. People are sending me their own stories about how much paper they throw away every single week. This is moving well beyond my original reach because of your kindness.

I really thought this would just be a small idea that only I cared about. Looking at the growth of this movement has been completely overwhelming and it is entirely because you all decided to take a look at it.

Great idea. It is 2019 why are we still printing so much garbage.
Every time I check out the clerk tries to give me a receipt I don't want. Such a massive waste of paper seriously.
Receipts are often just littered or thrown in the trash to fill landfills :( WASTEFUL and POINTLESS
I didn’t know receipts have a coating that make them non- recyclable that’s terrible! Great job!
Please stop paper receipts. Nobody uses them or can find them if needed. Just email receipt or text

Had no idea these were toxic to recycle. My wallet is always full of these things anyway just email them to me!
