All Hernando Beach Canals are designated as NO WAKE/IDLE SPEED and yet these rules are usually violated. There is no enforcement of the rules. This petition would ask that the Hernando County BOCC enforce the existing rules for the safety and welfare of the citizens who live on the canals and those who use the canals for access to the Gulf of Mexico.

PLEASE enforce the "no wake" in our canals.
Our canal is used daily by shrimp boats, some go a reasonable speed, others do not. This same canal is used by those who rent boats and store boats at the local Marina. Finally, every single homeowner in Hernando Beach South that takes out there boat, has to use this same canal to go out to the Gulf. In short, alot of boat traffic, which is fine, in and of itself, but
40 - 60% of the boats that go by,
DO NOT abide by the "no wake" rule.
As those of us who live here know, the wakes created by those going too fast, damages our seawalls, our docks, and our watercraft. In fact, last night a boat went by too fast and caused my elderly neighbor, to lose his balance and his leg was caught between his boat and his dock. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

We need to respect all our neighbors and obey the law. A few minutes to get to the gulf will not impose a hardship on the shrimpers.
