5 Team Extended Round Robin
We, the flyball participants of Region 10, request that NAFA approve the following race format for use in sanctioned competition.
5 Team Extended Round Robin
Following a 5 team single round robin, teams are reseeded based on round robin results. The extended round robin has five races: 1vs2, 2vs3, 3vs4, 4vs5, 5vs1. Final placing is determined by combining total wins from the single round robin and the extended round robin.
We believe this race format allows for fair and equal opportunity to race and compete with teams in a five team division. Each team pays the same entry fee and as such should be afforded the same number of race opportunities, regardless of where they seed following the single round robin. This format addresses the discrepancy present in the single elimination format that has teams race 5 or 6 or 7 races based on where they seed following the single round robin.
We feel this format allows us to accomplish our racing goals of having fun, being competitive and earning individual dog points without contravening any NAFA rules or policies.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the rules committee reconsider its recommendation to the Board concerning the approval of the 5 Team Extended Round Robin format. We ask that the Board approve the 5 Team Extended Round Robin format as a race option.
