SOAS have a policy to charge students £150 to pay their tuition fees in instalments. We want to change this for good, and secure a refund for those of us who have paid it.
Why?
1. The fee exploits students who have less money, by charging them more
2. The fee discriminates against Postgraduate students funding their studies with a UK Govt Postgraduate Loan
3. The fee limits participation at SOAS by not providing prospective and current students with the type of flexibility that is needed when you're living in one of the most expensive cities in the world
4. The fee is not proportionate with cost of administering a flexible instalment scheme, rather its a way to make money.

SOAS' policy to charge £150 for PGL instalments undermines the purpose of loans which was to widen participation. The fee in unjust and disproportionate to the cost of administering the payment. People are already paying in excess of £9000, the cost of administration should be born by the university!
This is honestly just a money grab. Paying this on top of everything else is ridiculous and makes it so much harder for us to get by in London.
I found it unfair on the part of students to have this extra burden

150 quid for a bank transfer setting is a joke. sort it out soas
