To whom it may concern,
This is a petition created and signed by the students of AUD to take the final examinations of Spring 2021 online.
Currently, we are all in the middle of a pandemic and are asked to follow strict regulations that have been applied globally. Certain students are unable to show up to their final exams because of canceled flights and closed airports, other students may be tested 'Positive'. Due to COVID-19, the economic drop has affected numerous families that are unable to support themselves with basic necessities, can not afford to get constantly tested for COVID-19 that is asked to be issued by the university. We are all following the regulations that have been applied to us but it is not ethical for people who are unable to see their beloved family and friends all of a sudden are asked to take exams on-campus. In addition to this, the students of AUD find it unfair that other universities and schools around Dubai and the UAE are giving their final exams online, whereas AUD students are asked to come on campus during the holy month of Ramadan. Students are not even given the 'Pass/Fail' option which is unjust since for an entire year students spent their educational sessions online, not on campus. We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone and we believe that it is best for us to obey and fulfill the rules that were given to us.

I don’t see a reason for us to have to come in just for finals at be at risk of Covid and also most of us will be fasting it’s holy month of Ramadan. If I speak honestly it is unfair we have been online for more than a year now and making us come back just for the finals during Ramadan and increasing the risk of us getting Covid
I live with people who are elderly with compromised health and are at high risk to COVID. I don't want to risk sitting in a classroom with 25 other students who could potentially be infected after their PCR test and having my family suffer the consequences..
Most of the exams I am doing OC are open book, and I am required to get my laptop to search and look up the questions online. I don't know how this makes sense when I can easily take the exam at home if this is about cheating
I personally will have to take the PCR test 3 times for my finals as the latest policy states that the PCR test only stays for 3 days and my exams are 4 days apart, in addition to language exam which takes place earlier than other courses.
I have been stuck in Iraq ever since the covid 19 started. And I don’t think my parents will agree for me to come back to Dubai so if the exams are in university I might miss them.
Inconsiderate to those that are taking great measures to stay as safe as possible.

How come you sent an email saying that summer wont be offered to all students due to the pandemic and the limited capacity of classes and now you’re making the finals on campus?
