Recently, First Glasgow increased the fares on their services making an already expensive ticket even more expensive. I feel that this unfair on people like myself who were struggling to afford the fares before they increased! I am not alone in thinking this, At the time of writing this email, there exists 4 Facebook Groups with a collective total of 3552 members who have joined to show their disgust at both the service provided by First and the latest fares increase.

I have tried (as have others) to complain to First, however these complaints fall on deaf ears and go unanswered and ignored. I have sent countless letters and emails to them with not so much as an acknowledgment of receipt. I find this ridiculous that a company can be be allowed to operate in such a way!

The public are being told to use public transport more to save money and the environment, but how can we do this if we cannot afford to travel by bus! The fare for me to travel into town from my house has gone up £0.15 and now stands at £1.75. I have been one of the "lucky" ones too! Some routes in Glasgow have increased by a much greater amount. I cant remember the exact figures, but the price of diesel and other costs have increased around 40%, and in that time, fares have increased over 80% on average! I have a list as long as my arm detail times when buses have been very late or not turned up at all. I've heard from various sources that drivers pay has been frozen too. When you factor in that First are withdrawing vital services from some areas, you really have to wonder where this money is going!

Sign the petition if you feel First's monopoly has gone on too long, and they should drop their fares back down to what they were before 28/03/10 and provide a level of service that could be called at least "acceptable". I also feel they should provide better information at bus stops inclusing information about fares. Timetables should also contain more information that "a bus every 15 minutes"...

Also, I should add that I am aware that the First Rail service is equally poor, so feel free to sign for that too.
