Football-Rugby pitches in Jedburgh - Our children's future -
The general condition of football and Rugby pitches all round the borders seems to be in major decline - My hometown of Jedburgh however seems to be the worst of all - in this year of 2011 the town only has 1 football pitch (Elliot Park-Woodend) which is in a terrible condition and has been reported for the last 6-7 years to the local council and SBC but nothing has been done apart from the banking at the corner being lowered(?) this will help the pitch when the Jed is on flood(not) - The Rugby pitch at Riverside is satisfactory only because the groundsmen work so hard. The Glebe's drainage too is terrible and the Rugby-Hockey piches at Howdenburn and Oxnam road are a TOTAL DISGRACE - We expect our kids to play on these pitches - The middle of July and the pitch (Howdenburn School pitches) were full of water and holes which a small child could be lost in NOT GOOD ENOUGH- We wonder in this country WHY we dont produce football and rugby stars of the future when the kids cant even play on half the pitches - time for action and time to see how many of you agree with me.
