Route 955 between Cape Tormentine and Mates Corner, New Brunswick, part of the Acadian Coastal Drive, a designated provincial tourist route, has been in an advanced state of disrepair for many years. It is now in a dangerous state for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

> The edges of the road have broken away in many places, reducing the lane width to as little as 7’ in places;

> it is unsafe for cars to pass one another, let alone commercial trucks and vehicles hauling trailers;

> the road shoulders are non-existent in many areas;

> weeds have overtaken what remains of the areas which still have a shoulder and they are allowed to grow to 6’ high at times; and

> the natural inclination is for motorists to drive in the centre of the road.

Route 955 urgently needs to be widened and resurfaced in most areas for the sake of:

* Driver, cyclist and pedestrian safety

* Tourism

* The local economy

Purchased land with the plans of vacationing there & looking at setting up business but roads make it very UNATTRACTIVE to do so ( very unsafe )

It’s one of the worst, dangerous roads I’ve ever towed my trailer on, to a provincial campground no less. How can it be allowed to get to this point and continue to throw our hard earned tax money into useless repairs.

This route has only been patched for so many years and only chipped seal. There are more patches than chip seal. It needs to be built up and paved . You will soon need horse and wagons. It's too bad that will take a very bad accident hopefully not the school buses. We are part of NB also.

I have a summer home at Rayworth Beach. Hwy. 955 is an important and picturesque tourist route with local businesses I visit regularly. For years it attracted many vehicles coming off the bridge. Its current poor condition has really discouraged that traffic. It’s time the Province rebuilt it to proper standards.

This road is a safety hazzard at this point as well as a great way to ruin wheels and tires, I have had to replace several tires and have damaged two sets of wheels on this road in the past 18 months. Enough already. Pave the road before it kills someone.

I drive this road twice daily for work. And because the shoulders are so broken or nonexistent. I've had 3 vehicles in one afternoon in my lane avoiding pot holes and lack of road on sides. In inclement weather this is going to be dangerous.

The road is horrible! It needs to be fixed and not just a bandaid. There are parts that are too narrow and other parts that you could do major damage if you hit the pothole!

We haven’t driven this route in a year because it’s horrible condition. It’s a shame to be missing out on the scenic drive but it’s so dangerous that it’s not worth it It’s an embarrassment to have tourists travel to a provincial park on this road
