Extending the school year into the end of June to compensate for snowdays and winter breaks does not benefit students. The days in late June simply are not of the same quality of instruction as earlier in the school year. Additionally, releasing families mere days before the 4th of July holiday impacts the summer break in a way that is not beneficial to anyone. There is barely enough time to prepare for the 4th of July, and as soon as everyone is past it the back-to-school preparations begin again. The 1-2 weeks at the end of June are critical to a summer break.

We are requesting a 2-3 week period of discussion in which the exact dates for April (or late March/early April) break could be discussed among parents and school officials so that the removal of one of our two Winter/Spring vacations can be agreed upon by all. We wish to return to and early or earlier June release for Summer Vacation.
