Food Trucks in Brentwood Park
Food trucks provide a convenient, affordable and helpful lunch options for many day workers in our City. Brentwood Park residents acknowledge their value and place in the food service ecosystem. However, we request that Councilmember Bonin properly address guidelines and rules as to how these food trucks provide their services to the local workforce in the Park.
Unfortunately, food trucks in Brentwood Park often create unpleasant and occasionally dangerous conditions for the community. When parked on the narrow residential streets of the Park they create dangerous traffic conditions that must be addressed. In addition, trash is left on streets and even in yards of nearby homes.
On San Vicente Blvd food trucks’ staff provide tables and chairs for their customers like operating a restaurant. Additionally, several food trucks occupy the street during the lunch hour with customers dashing across San Vicente dodging traffic. Some food trucks stay until after 4:00 pm creating congestion and disrupting traffic. As on the narrow side streets the food trucks’ staff leave used plates, leftover food, chicken bones, and other trash surrounding the eating areas which leaves a stench and is a real eyesore.
The residents of Brentwood Park and greater Brentwood request that Councilmember Bonin and the LA City Council address these public health safety and environmental issues. And receive input from community leaders and acquire buy-in from the participating food truck staff who service the local workforce whose services we value .
