Mr. Ambassador, With the recent events unfolding in Syria, the increasing violence and growing number of casualties, the global community and the Syrian American community are deeply concerned with the massacres taking place in Syria and the loss of lives. We are disheartened by these events and ask you to denounce the regimes excessive use of violence, and causing pain and suffering of innocent civilians. As you know, resorting to violence and bloodshed is not new to this regime (we all remember the massacres in Hama and Sednayah).

We urgently request that you join us in rallying behind the people of Syria, and stand against the brutality of this regime and its security forces. These forces continue to brutally kill peaceful protesters simply asking for their rights to freedom and dignity. This regime is responsible for injuring, detaining and tortured thousands. For the past 2 weeks they have surrounded several cities terrorizing residents, and blocking humanitarian aid from reaching the people. Let your conscience be your guide, and immediately denounce the practices of this regime, and demand an end to the blockade and the misleading campaign the state run media is waging against the Syrian people. We also request that you demand independent media to enter the country and provide unbiased and truthful coverage.

Our community strongly believes that as the representative of the People of Syria in the US, you have an obligation to speak out against the brutality of this regime towards unarmed peaceful protestors. We also request that you communicate back to the president that oppression will no longer silence the masses. There are large gaps and significant contradictions between the reforms the president recently promised, and the inhumane practices of the security forces on the ground in Syria.

The recent actions of the Syrian people are a natural reaction after 50 years of oppression. Syrians are asking for common rights people in many other countries expect and take for granted. The killing of innocent people will only complicate matters and raise the ceiling of the people’s demands. It is critical that this regime learns the lessons of the recent revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen. At least one clear and common theme from all these examples “violence is not the answer”

The Syrian people look forward to your positive action regarding this humanitarian issue. Please make your voice heard today, help stop the bloodshed, and the suffering of the Syrian people. It is your duty as it is the duty of every Syrian to stand against the violence and oppression practiced by this regime.

I wake up every night thinking about my family who still cannot reach a phone to tell me they are safe. The silence from the embassy is deafening but your messages prove that the world refuses to look away from this brutality.

Seeing this grow makes me think of the families back home who are suffering in total silence. Knowing that so many people understand the weight of this horror gives me a strength I did not have before.

Please help guarantee the GOD-given rights of all Syrians; to be treated as full-fledged human beings, to live happily and freely on their ancestral lands, and to not be slaughtered, brutalized, tortured, or otherwise treated unjustly by a horrible tyrant.
