Increase Funding for Mental Illnesses and Addiction Services for the Homeless in Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County has the largest number of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness in the nation; 67% of those experiencing homelessness in L.A. County suffer from mental illness and/or substance abuse.
On February 6, 2024, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved a $783 million spending plan for the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative (CEO-HI) in fiscal year 2024-25 that “sustains and expands the County’s existing homeless services system and ramps up the homelessness emergency response while investing in critical programs.” The County receives billions of dollars every year to solve homelessness from local, state, and federal sources but has failed to provide sufficient mental illness and addiction treatment services for people experiencing homelessness.
Urge the County to increase the CEO-HI for the fiscal year 2024-25 by $300 million to be allocated toward mental illness and addiction treatment services to support people experiencing homelessness by signing this petition today!
