Anyone who has ever wanted to buy a video game in New Haven knows that there are only two options: first, assuming you have a car, you can drive to the nearest gaming store (in North Haven or Hamden), often taking more than half an hour if the traffic is bad; or second, you can order online, wait a week for the shipping, and be forced to deal with confusing shipping and delivery systems.
Maybe we can create a third option. Gamestop is a national video game store chain that sells a wide assortment of video games for all platforms and systems in all of their stores across the country. Gamestop is not entirely convinced of the existence of a market for games in Downtown New Haven. They need to realize that New Haven is brimming with interest in video games with a target market waiting to buy games at a convenient Downtown New Haven location.
There are 40,000 students in the New Haven area, many of whom live within walking distance of Downtown, with the rest of the students having easy access to daily shuttles to take them into the Downtown New Haven area. There are no Best Buys, Targets, Walmarts or any other stores that sell video games in Downtown New Haven. If Gamestop were to set up a location here, they would be the sole distributors of video games, and the staff would be certainly the most game-savvy staff between here and the next Gamestop store.
With this petition, we hope to obtain enough signatures to convince Gamestop that the New Haven Broadway area is a great location for a game store. If we obtain enough signatures, we can make Gamestop aware of the strong demand among New Haven residents for game store within walking distance of Broadway.
Please sign the petition below to make Gamestop aware of the demand for a game store in New Haven.
I am currently in the process of compiling the feedback received from local students regarding their difficulty in accessing retail gaming options. This information will be presented to corporate representatives to demonstrate the clear demand for a storefront in the Broadway area.

The level of tangible interest in a downtown gaming hub has exceeded my initial expectations. This momentum confirms that the student community is eager for local access to these resources. We are now preparing to present this clear evidence of demand to the corporate offices.

I end up just buying everything on amazon because the commute is too long. Would much rather buy local.

Seriously tired of taking the bus all the way out to Hamden just to pick up a pre-order. Downtown needs this.

Gamestop would make a killing with all the yale students around here. Missed opportunity honestly.

Finally someone said it. Broadway is the perfect spot for it anyway. Plenty of foot traffic.

YES. Living on campus without a car makes getting games impossible. Please bring a store here.
