Dear Homeowner: Hope you all had a great summer and are enjoying the great fall weather. It is great to see everyone efforts in making their properties outstanding! We are writing you today to let you know as the developer of Spider Lake Country Estates when we designed the primary street and lot layout we built into the design a large park area(Bunchberry Lane) that was deeded to Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) in January 2012. When the parkland was handed over to HRM we submitted an application for a name dedication of the parkland. The name submitted for dedication was “Gary A. Ferguson Memorial Park”. Gary Ferguson was a lifelong friend of the Sheffer Family (owners of Nickkels Contracting Limited) who spent his career working for HRM in the parks and grounds for 21 years. Gary was diagnosed with colon cancer and eventually lost his fight with the disease in 2009 at the young age of 47. Gary was an amazing man, who cared immensely for his friends, family and community. It would mean a great deal to his friends and his family to see this name dedication for the parkland approved and supported by the residents of Spider Lake Country Estates. In order to move this process closer to approval we must obtain a signed petition from the residents of Spider Lake Estates so we can then move forward in the approval process with HRM. We have been in contact with numerous HRM officials who are waiting on us to come forward at which time council will discuss and hopefully approve our wishes.
