We support Western Michigan University in implementing gender inclusive housing options. We support the creation of a rooming option that acknowledges, appreciates, and respects the diverse nature of the WMU student body. We support a housing option that allows students to feel safe within their identities and to celebrate those identities with pride - without fear of rejection from their peers or the residential community in which they live. We support a rooming option that is truly compatible for transgender and gender nonconforming students and their allies that allows students the flexibility of choice in their roommates. We support the creation of a safe, inclusive, comfortable, and affordable space for residents to live on campus.
