The charges against William were officially dropped today. Thank you to the 511 people who stood behind him while we fought to fix this injustice. Keep an eye on local news outlets to ensure they stop running inaccurate stories about this case.
Willam E Kinne is being accused of “breaking into” the jefferson county animal control building and “stealing” his own service animal back. Not only was door completely unlocked but he even left a note with his name and phone number for contact explaining the whole situation. William had resuced his dog Rainy from an abuse situation and had her 5 years prior to this situation. Then had her until her passing last year due to cancer. Three years had gone by after the incident with no contact from the pound, so he turned himself into the police. The shelter has stated they no longer wish to press any charges yet the local news still insist on printing false information on his situation.
William is being charged with third degree burglary and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. All for simply walking into an unlocked building and retrieving his service animal and best friend. Rainy had gotten lose from while he was out grabbing groceries. He wasnt even gone a full hour before he got home and realized she was missing. When he was told by a neighbor that dog control had came and taken her, (despite her collar & tags) he called the Jefferson County Dog Control but no one answered so he went to the pound himself.

This paper is whack for posting this. They have already changed the info on it multiple times and are STILL incorrect. Little research and little care clearly go into their production, and lazy staff are leading to misrepresentation for a few measly clicks. THEY WROTE IT HAPPENED THIS MONTH THE FIRST TIME POSTED AND NOT THREE YEARS AGO, DO RESEARCH!!!

I’m here should be no charges against this man. It’s not like he broke in or did any damage. He has now lost his precious pet. This is ridiculous to continue with these charges especially when the dog shelter is no longer pursuing it.

He didn’t break into the pound cause a door was unlocked, if anything he was trespassing. He took something that was already his so he didn’t steal anything and it was many years ago so just let it go.

I’ve known bill since the 4th grade and his love for animals is stronger than anyone I’ve ever met. He did what any parent or owner of a pet would have done.
