This successful outcome reflects the collective resolve of our community members who advocated for reliable connectivity. The CRTC has made broadband a BASIC SERVICE. They have put a program in place to bring WIRED internet to all CANADIANS. BUT...We need your help
After years of contacting companies and getting no response, one of our residents introduced me to Vianet. Vianet agreed to meet and discuss building a high speed network. They made a deputation to council On 13th February 2017 to build a High Speed Fibre Optic network to the residents of Adjala Tosorontio, It only passed by a small margin.
This is a 10 million project and a start to bring a FIBRE OPTIC network to Adjala-Tosorontio, This project will cover the Fiber backbone that is needed to bring a wired connection to under-served communities, and make it financial viable to expand out to houses with less density. (the target is 95% of all homes in Canada starting with the 18% that are under-served such as ours)
This project is costing the Township nothing and is being funded by the Federal Government - Connect to Innovate, the Province through SWIFT, and VIANET's expansion programs.
We need to show support from the residents for this initiative as we will be competing with other communities for these funds!

20th Side Road, Lisle (20th and 13th). Some third world countries have a better internet infrastructure then our community which is 1 hour noth of Tornto!!
Moved to AT 10 years ago - working in the IT field I have tried (without much success) during this time to have "wired" high speed brought into the area. Council need to step up and get everyone connected now! Way overdue!!
I have four children that need this in order to succeed in school ! We have been living I have been in this area for 30 yrs and have never had high speed internet in our home, this would be an asset to us !
I am a high school student I have to go to the library to do my assignments as we do not have high speed Fibre Optic in ore area. We need this service. I live in Palgrave in Adjala Tosorontio.
There is no reason why people living less than an hour from the biggest city in the country should not have access to better internet. This is the result of years of monopoly by bell. Finally we have a telecom company willing to do the work, and it's town counselors who are the obstacles!?! It's embarrassing that we even have to sign this.
Would like to see it brought to Earl Rowe Court in Adjala-Tosorontio

Home based business and school work... after 15 years of this battle I hope something can happen. My neighbourhood is a true dead internet zone and so far no one cares! I hope this happens
