Second Chance for Life By You: Let's Make it Happen!
Life By You, a highly anticipated life simulation game, has been in development for years under Paradox Tectonic a sub-studio under parent company Paradox Interactive. Despite its promising concept and early progress, and promised early access release. The project was recently came to an abrupt halt June 17,2024 and was indefinitely cancelled, and studio Paradox Tectonic was immediately closed shortly after this public announcement. Leaving fans devastated and angry about the game's future.
The Issue:
Paradox Interactive's decision to cancel Life By You without providing a clear explanation or a final release, has left fans feeling betrayed and frustrated. The original promise of an early access release was broken, leaving many feeling misled and disappointed. We believe that it's unfair to cancel the game without giving fans a chance to experience it, even if it's in an early access state.
- Fan Loyalty: The original team has built a strong connection with fans, who have been eagerly following the game's development since announced in 2023. Releasing the game under a new team could ensure the potential to regain trust back to Paradox customers, but potentially having better goal orientation for the direction of its development.
- Creative Vision: The original team had a clear vision for Life By You, one we’ve never seen before, which is reflected in its early concept and gameplay. Changing the team could risk altering the game's direction and potentially resulting in a product that is not what fans were expecting. But would still leave it's core originality and coding to be a successful framework to continue building upon.
- Development Progress: The original team has already made significant progress on the game, including finished core mechanics and a functional prototype, and a robust modding system that future proofs it. Allowing them to continue working on the project would minimize delays, focus on core tech issues and bugs, graphics, and ensure that the game is released in a timely manner.
- Fresh Perspective: A new team can bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to the project, potentially revitalizing the game's development and ensuring that it meets fans' expectations.
- New Skills and Expertise: A new team may bring in new skills and expertise that were not present in the original team, allowing for new features and mechanics to be added to the game.
- Improved Communication: A new team can provide better communication with fans, keeping them updated on the game's progress and ensuring that their voices are heard throughout the development process.
What We're Asking:
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge Paradox Interactive to reconsider their decision to abandon Life By You and instead, give the game a second chance with a new team. It appears that the project's internal expectations were not met, and fan concerns and development issues during the early access period contributed to the team's dismissal. However, we believe that this is not a reason to discard the project entirely.
Instead, we think that this is an opportunity to reinvigorate the game and bring it back to life. A new team can learn from the original team's mistakes, address the community's concerns, and build upon the foundation that has already been laid. We urge Paradox to give Life By You a second chance, not to let the hard work and dedication of the original team go to waste.
By giving the game a new lease on life, Paradox can demonstrate their commitment to quality and their willingness to listen to fan feedback. We believe that this is the perfect chance for the company to redeem themselves and prove that they are dedicated to creating a game that meets fans' expectations.
Let's give Life By You a second chance and see it thrive under new leadership.
