Goizueta MBA Students Want Lifetime Alumni Email Addresses With Send/Receiving Capability
90 days after graduation, our email accounts will be permanently disabled. This means that we will not be able to send outgoing messages from emory.edu. This is unfortunate because there is value in having a *.edu email address for life. An Emory.edu address is useful for but not limited to the following reasons:
-Reaching out to executives at companies other than your own for coffee chats
-Corresponding with current and prospective students
-Registering for services that require that you're a student or alumni of a certain list of top schools
-Verifying your affiliation with Emory
-Increasing the likelihood of having your email read by a stranger
-Plus much much more
Emailing strangers from a Gmail account lacks the cachet of sending an email from the domain of a prestigious and exclusive institution such as Emory.
I ask that you sign this petition as a means of voicing your support and interest in maintaining a lifetime emory.edu email address. If there is enough interest, we can then make a case to preserve not only our email addresses, but all of our current messages for those who do not delete anything.
If you would like to help prepare a proposal, please sign and reach out to me directly.
