I would like to be able to take advantage of solar energy and I know many of you feel the same. Why does our government offer a 30% tax credit and our state offer a 25% tax credit for installing solar panels? Though our HOA Covenants does not specifically say solar panels are not allowed, the board will not approve any changes visible from the road. This does not make sense, because if you drive around our neighborhood, you will see a lot uglier things than solar panels on a roof. We need to become more progressive and realize solar energy is the future. Here are a few important points regarding solar energy:
- Solar panels provide major environmental benefits and they fight one of our biggest challenges for the future, climate change. The production of energy pollutes our air even more than cars do– overall, the majority of power plants in the U.S. are polluting the air. That pollution not only impacts climate change, but also serious health issues like asthma, bronchitis, pulmonary disease, and lowers our resistance to infections.
- Solar power increases the value of your home. For every $1 saved in annual electricity costs, your home jumps up $20 in value.
- Solar panels decrease energy costs, thereby helping you save a bundle of money – something everyone can agree with.
In order to change our covenants, I am looking to get 75% of our homeowners to sign this petition and present it to our board. Please sign this petition. Thank you!

im honestly kind of stunned by the momentum we have right now. it feels like the whole neighborhood is finally waking up to the fact that we deserve better than these outdated rules.

We must individually take steps to remove our country’s dependence on fossil fuels. Why would a HOA prevent something that will benefit the individual and the country as a whole? We can have mildew covered homes but not solar panels on the tops of homes - which are not unsightly?? Come on now.
I think properly installed panels look just fine. It’s 2017 - and technology is changing, whether we agree or disagree. I believe the neighborhood homeowners should have this option.

It's better for the HOA. Better for the Pages. Better for the planet. Better.
Solar panels done properly aren't an eyesore and are incredible additions to green energy!

Solar and wind power are essential to the future of the planet. Solar power is cleaner and protects not just the environment but human health as well. SC's climate has natural health hazards, solar power is clean and a benefit to all. Plus it increases the value of the home and neighborhood. HOA's and Coop's Board of Officers can voted out of office if they don't work to improve their neighborhoods and this means allowing and encouraging solar panels.
