We the students and parents signing this petition wish that
the "Hair may not be dyed un-natural colors, including black" rule
should be changed. The Parent Handbook states in the MPCS dress code for
students that it may be distracting to teachers and students during the school day.
We believe in this day and age that hair dying has become a lot less of a head
turner and a part of our culture and its self-expression. A recent study showed that sales of professional salon color
products were up by 3.6 percent and professional hair color services were up by
3.6 percent. This proves that hair coloring is alot more common in society today. We encourage any student or parent that feels this rule
is unnecessary and should be changed to sign this petition.
My daughter loves purple hair and it doesnt hurt anyone. Its just hair and kids should be allowed to have fun with it. Please update the handbook.
