Halswell desperately needs a facility for it's young people. Skate parks promote intergenerational community building, and are an asset to the area they are located in.
Seriously, anyone worried about young people and antisocial behaviour should be in favour of this! Skate parks are well known as a fantastic way to encourage kids to take up the hobby of skating, while providing the facilities for them to develop their skills safely and without worrying about damaging property or being told off for skating in inappropriate places.
As an adult working for CCC I've been to all skate parks in the greater ChCh area and seen for myself the social behavior and dynamics of the kids that use them. I can honestly say that these park users are passionate about that they do and they're friendly, cooperative and have no genuine interest in anti- social behavior.
Halswell Domain is a great place for it. Nice and central to get a coffee and watch the kids enjoy the park. Washington way is great but nice to have something local that you can walk to.
This would be an awesome addition for the kids of Halswell. Halswell has expanded massively over the last few years but offers little recreation opportunities in comparison.
I like to take my children to skate parks. I rollerblade while they skateboard. This sport should have as much support as any.
This is 25 years overdue. Congratulations to those people finally getting some action in Halswell

We would love a skatepark for our Halswell Children why should Halswell miss out and we as parents have to drive our kids to places like Washington Way and Prebb, not fair, cmon let our kids have their own area to play on, it will be fantastic!!!
