East Northants is our home. We wish to ensure that as it changes to meet new challenges, those changes are in keeping with the area and meet the needs of those of us who live and work here. We are concerned that in recent years there has been much development without the new infrastructure and services to match. Roads often do not cope at peak times, there are areas without enough school places, public transport is usually inadequate, local emergency services are stretched and medical services are unable to offer prompt support to all. There is now yet another application to build on open land, this time at the north end of Station Road in Higham Ferrers. The pressure on our services and infrastructure will become intolerable if they are not improved before more housing is built. In particular, the additional traffic at the A6 / A45 junction at Chowns Mill will cause further delays and risk even more accidents. This will affect the residents of several local towns and villages on a daily basis. We call upon all parties involved in assessing and approving this application to stop, think and ensure that there is adequate infrastructure and service provision before further expansion is approved, and that any such expansion is designed to meet local need, not the demands of developers.  See our new web site at www.chownsmill.org.uk for lots more detail.  To see the planning application that has prompted this, please use the link on this page and type 11/00805/OUT into the relevant field.
