Support DE HB 275 (HB 157) - Teacher's FMLA Act
Sign the petition today so we can deliver it to Delaware's General Assembly to encourage passage of this very important bill. Under House Bill 275 (previously HB 157)sponsored by Rep. Longhurst and several legislators the Colonial School District would be required to return full and part-time teachers to the same teaching position that they held before taking their leave. The federal FMLA allows states to implement additional protections as each state sees fit. The Family and Medical Leave Act requires that covered employees must grant an eligible employee up to 12 workweeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for the birth of a child, gaining a child through adoption or foster care, to care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition or to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition. House Bill 157 was assigned to the House Education Committee.
