The council finally backed down and confirmed Dawn and John can stay in their home which is just the best news ever although I am still shaking a bit from the relief. It turned out that all those signatures really did force them to take a second look because they …

Hello everyone, Dawn has lived in her family home for 40+ years pretty much. Sadly her dad passed away some years back. Dawn and her husband moved back to the house to care for Dawn's mum whom lived in the house in question as sadly she became poorly. A few months ago Dawn's mum Hilary passed away. Dawn and John now reside in the council house where Dawn grew up. The house is the property of Medway Council and they have now decided that Dawn and John can not stay there. John is poorly from a HEART CONDITION and COPD, Dawn works full time but money is not in abundance. The rent and council tax are paid every week so no arrears are an issue yet Medway Council still will not allow them to stay. Dawn and John are a much loved couple of our community as much as Dawn's parents were. The Council are giving them 4/6 weeks to vacate. We say LET THEM STAY.

HELP US TO HELP THEM AND SIGN OUR PETITION.

Their home in 73 BEATTY AVENUE, GILLINGHAM, KENT IS THEIR HOME, let's fight for that to continue. The council have accepted their payments for 3 years so why now. They have looked after the property so its in councils interest to let a respectable couple stay in that house.

Thank you for your support

I am honestly looking at the number on the screen and I just cannot stop shaking because this really shows how much people care about Dawn and John. It is overwhelming to think that so many folks decided to jump in and stop this from happening to two good people who have been through enough already. I need to go get a glass of water because my brain is just spinning with the possibilities of what we can actually do now.

How Council can do something so unhuman, to a couple that has been living there for 3 years. Come on Council allow them to stay they just lost their beloved mother, allow them to stay. Have a HEART:

It's only right that Dawn and John are allowed to stay in the family home. They are both lovely people and are up to date with payments unlike some out there that take liberties. Show some compassion medway council!

Please allow this couple to stay in the home, they have paid their Council tax ant rent for many years showing loyalty to the Council. Show you have a heart Medway, many people come to the area with nothing at all to offer but would probably be given preferential treatment.

The family have been there for a lifetime, street would not be the same without them, the respect shown when family walked down street and all neighbours stood at front door to see Dawns Mum off was tremendous. Council try to be thoughtful!

Please get behind this petition folks. We are not asking for a new house, weare not asking for money. We are asking for a dear friend to be allowed to stay in her family home, by having her & her hubbys name put on the rent book. That is all, how hard can it be????????

Enough with red tape, just change the names, it's not rocket science.

I don't understand why council wish to move out people who pay their rent and taxes on time, have had it in the family for 40 + years and obviously have taken great care of the place. Council in fact have accepted payment from the couple for the past 3 year so how can they now ask them to leave? Council wake up you have reliable long term tenants, they are the ones you need to keep so let them continue to live in what they see is their family home. People like this take care of your homes because they treat it like HOME. Please use common sense and let them stay.
