Only 44 days into 2018, there’s been 18 school shootings. Lives are being lost at an exponential rate. Mass shootings have become such a regular occurrence that our society is desensitized to the reporting of mass shootings. Sending prayers and well wishes, forgetting the event within weeks, sometimes days, until the next tragic shooting takes place. I am starting this petition to demand change. I am beginning this petition with the hopes that schools and universities across America, will have mandatory metal detectors to entries and exits of schools both outdoors and inside. I plan to forward this petition to the U.S. Department of Education. https://www.ed.gov/school-safety Currently shows the safety plan that has been set forth, but it is not enough.
