As a full-time employed American, I'm tired of seeing my tax dollars going towards people who refuse to work. The United States needs stronger laws to crack down on welfare fraud and abuse. The welfare system was created to help people in genuine need of assistance, not lazy people who want to just sit around and not be productive.

In order to receive welfare, laws should require potential welfare recipients to do several things.

1. Undergo mandatory drug testing. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. Maintain a job for at least 9 months and work at a MINIMUM 30 hours a week, both for single-parent and two-parent families.

3. Provide medical documentation for chronic medical conditions (such as cancer, MS, cystic fibrosis, etc.) if the recipient is in genuine need of assistance with payment for required medication.

4. Provide proof of legal citizenship. NO EXCEPTIONS. Illegal immigrants should never be allowed welfare under any circumstances.

5. Provide proof of being age 21 or older.

6. Use welfare money ONLY for its intended purpose (rent, housing, food, clothing, etc) and provide documentation at the end of each month as proof. Welfare money should NEVER be allowed to be used on alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, etc.

7. Undergo criminal background checks. NO EXCEPTIONS.
