Against the Cost of parking at West Middlesex Hospital
The high cost of the Parking at West Middlesex Hospital is like rubbing salt in to the wound of the sick, elderly, poor and bereaved. It also causes major disruption to the local residents in the area surrounding the hospital as they find they are no longer able to park outside their own houses due to the hopsital patients and visitors. The prices are currently at a rate that is higher than the rate of inflation and are steadily increasing.Parking is free for Disabled users but this will soon change. In the case of an emergency requiring a visit to A&E patients must ensure that the take alot of money with them to afford the parking fees. This is when public transport and an ambulance is not an option and when it involves a life and death situation. Having to attend the hospital for any length of time is a huge finacial struggle, especially when a parent is attending to a sick child and public transport is not an option. The hospital is planning to introduce some concessions for long-term patients(for a stay of more than 2 weeks) but this is little consolation to those whom are unable to afford the costs in the mean time. This has been an on going topic of debate on the local web site community forum in which the public has voiced it\'s various opinions on this issue. People can no longer afford to be sick due to the extortionate prices of the hospital parking.
