We Need Your Help to STOP this!! Downtown Phoenix could soon be the host the Single Largest Homeless Mega-Shelter in the United States.

There is no doubt with increased homelessness, there are people who need services to help them get their lives back on track. However, creating one single Mega-Shelter in Downtown is both counter productive in getting these people the individualized help they need, and is simply un-sustainable for the local communities and surrounding neighborhoods.

Why is this Mega-Shelter not good? For example, mixing the elderly homeless in with people that have violent criminal offenses, and substance abuse addictions, along with mixing sex offenders in with homeless youth all under one roof is not only dangerous, it's just a BAD idea.

The Solutions are smaller more manageable and individualized shelters with services specific to match the demographics of people they're serving. For example, one shelter for the Seniors & Elderly, a separate shelter for Homeless youth, and so on. It's also been proven in other cities that Mega-Shelters just don't work. This is why we're asking All Phoenix community members to come together and oppose this proposal for the expansion of Arizona's current largest homeless shelter expansion in Downtown Phoenix.

Please help both your local community, and the Homeless population get the real help they need and deserve by Signing this petition, and opposing the expansion of a Mega-Shelter in Downtown Phoenix. Below is the technical jargon we needed to include to make it official...

*** We, the undersigned, residents of the City of Phoenix, Arizona, oppose the HSC (Human Services Campus) special zoning application Z-SP-2-19 and any added amendments for such. Property Owners, residents, and people living and working in the communities neighborhoods near and surrounding the HSC overwhelmingly oppose the expansion of the HSC boundaries and increasing the number of shelter beds at these locations. Citizens have asked the City County, State, and HSC to remedy the adverse community conditions that occur as a result of the the HSC, to no avail. The HSC continues to have a negative impact on the community including sever health and safety risks, and public nuisance violations. HSC creates an offense to the senses and obstructs the free use of neighborhood properties for the neighbors' comfort and enjoyment of life. The HSC creates a situation injurious to the health and safety of those living, working, encamped, and visiting the surrounding area, including those visiting the HSC.
