I Support the Ramsey Canyon Inn!

Signing this petition is to support the Ramsey Canyon Inn’s rights to continue all its operations as it has been doing for nearly 50 years! As a staple in this community the Ramsey Canyon Inn has provided world class lodging to tens of thousands of people from all over the world, provided exceptional wildlife conservation, hosted 100’s of local beautiful couples and their wonderful families and friends on their wedding day, and of course served our guests and our community our Famous Blue Ribbon Pies!!

Here is brief summary of what has occurred:

In early in 2024, the owners of a competing business just down the road began to harass the owners, staff, and guests of the Ramsey Canyon Inn. They have even attempted to disrupt one of our beautiful couples’ weddings in the middle of their ceremony back in March of 2024. The owners of the Ramsey Canyon Inn took immediate action against this unlawful activity. To date, 4 people (3 family members that own a competing business and one of their close friends) who are involved in attacking the Ramsey Canyon Inn have been issued Injunctions Against Workplace Harassment through both the Justice and Superior Courts. These individuals will be arrested if they make any contact with the owners and staff of the Ramsey Canyon Inn because the courts found through evidence that they were guilty of ongoing and targeted harassment of our business. Since seeking these protections, the owners of this competing business have waged war against the Ramsey Canyon Inn by filing dozens, possibly hundreds of frivolous and defamatory complaints with virtually every county and state department you can imagine, making false allegations to Cochise County Sheriffs Department, Zoning and Planning Department, Health Department, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, Cochise County Highway Division, Fry Fire Department, Board of Supervisors, just to name a few. After all of these frivolous complaints we have been made aware of one actual valid issue from all of these departments which had to do with improper labeling of our pie slices being sold to the public under our AZ Cottage License which we promptly corrected when made aware of the issue. We are easily the most investigated business in this county’s history as we have been subject to approximately 30 visits from county officials, most of which were unannounced in calendar year 2024. It is extremely difficult to run a business with this type of harassment from our local government.

These individuals have also used defamation to garner support from people who don’t even live in the canyon to sign a petition against us. In one undercover recording we have the owner of this competing business is recorded telling a local resident that Ramsey Canyon Inn is harming the wildlife and is directly responsible for over a million less hummingbirds migrating through Cochise County in 2024. It’s these types of absurd and excessive lies that activate an emotional response from people to join their frivolous cause. These same types of lies have been used to try and ruin our reputation amongst our birdwatching guests who have been the core client of the Ramsey Canyon Inn for over 50 years. All of these actions are done to harm our business with the end goal of trying to get us to shut down which would be very financially beneficial for these folks.

All of these county departments involved are complaint driven and these individuals have utilized the free resource of calling 911 and filing online complaint forms on the county’s website to direct these departments after us. A few of their frivolous complaints to Cochise County officials have fallen on inept and cowardice bureaucratic ears who work for these complaint driven departments. We are not worried about the outcome of the baseless allegations. However, we want to show Cochise County how many people love and support the Ramsey Canyon Inn. The vast majority of statements made to these county officials by the individuals involved are baseless lies.

These very same individuals convinced the Herald Review to publish a total of 7 defamatory and slanderous articles about us. The Herald Review has refused to print accurate and correct information based on facts and evidence provided to them but rather salacious gossip drives this 7 article series to include telling the public that I lied about being involved in a car accident. Anyone can drive by my home and still see my totaled vehicle in front of my house after I was hit by a commercial vehicle at red light when I sitting still. My dad and I both ended up in the ER because of that accident and less than 24 hours after this incident an article by the Herald Review telling this community that I made up the whole thing. They are absolutely disgraceful and do not deserve the trust of the public to operate what they claim to be an actual journalist organization. This petition also is a symbol against false reporting with agenda driven “journalist” who have a hard time finding truthful content to keep their dying business alive.

This petition also represents a stand against government overreach and over regulation. As well as a stand against the negativity that the excessive complainers of this world bring to our community. If you are a business owner that has been targeted by local government overreach, or someone is tired of all the people who get online and bash our locally owned businesses over petty and exaggerated issues; then this petition represents a stand against both of these things in real time.

Lastly our property was victim to $80,000 in damage due to vandalism in November 2024. The vandalism was perpetrated to some of our utility equipment located on a neighboring property. Literally, there are only a few people, comprised of the very people attacking us who even know about this equipment and the location of this equipment which is very hidden from the public. In 2024 CCSO Deputies were sent out on dozens of occasions from frivolous complaints about parking and noise from these individuals which resulted in zero law enforcement actions taken because the reports were false. Now and actual crime was committed, a class 4 felony to be exact. It appears that CCSO knows these individuals are the only possible suspects and have motive, yet no one has been formally interviewed, no evidence has been collected, and after 5 months we have not heard a peep from CCSO as to how this investigation is developing.

Late yesterday evening on April 4th we became aware of the county seeking an injunction through the Superior Court against the Ramsey Canyon Inn. They posted this on their FB page. I don’t think I have ever seen the county post any type of civil litigation content on their page, especially pre-litigation. This is clearly a bullying tactic being used to hurt our reputation before this even goes to court because they know they have a weak case. We are confident in our position in the case, and we know we will have a positive outcome to all of this. The very county attorney pushing this agenda against us is Paul Correa who is currently in a lawsuit for allegedly not paying his debts according to the newspaper and also facing criminal charges for allegations from an incident in Bisbee, Arizona recently. I’m not one to personally judge a situation before all the facts are revealed through due process, but unfortunately the county is not giving us the same level of constitutional due process before making defamatory allegations online. Our attorney reached out to Paul Correa a few weeks ago because we had not heard anything from the county in over 5 months and we were seeking to resolve this matter, but Paul still has not had the decency to respond to our attorney’s request for a call back. The county has also never formally interviewed us or made any requests for evidence to counter these false claims. They have taken what are clearly frivolous complaints any attacked us publicly without seeking any evidence from us.

As a whole, Cochise County has failed us miserably. We are extremely disappointed and although we have many entrepreneurial ambitions, we struggle with wanting to invest any more of our time, money, and energy into other businesses that our governed by highly irresponsible bureaucrats in this county. We love this community and have invested so much into meaningful and impactful relationships with local residents, locally owned businesses, and charities. Regardless of our business future in the county, we will continue to have these meaningful pursuits in our community, and we appreciate all the support from our community to be able to do this for years to come!

A Sincere Thank You from the owners and staff of the Ramsey Canyon Inn
