We are people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) who want these illness (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) to be recognised as Long Term Illnesses under the Long Term Illness Scheme ran by the Health Service Executive (HSE). We are requesting the Minister for Health Mary Harney to amend Section 59 of the 1970 Health Act to include IBD as an eligible condition. The Long Term Illness Scheme (LTI) would enable patients with IBD to get the drugs for the condition for free, something we feel is a right and a necessity that should be an automatic entitlement. Thank You for taking the time to sign the petition!!

We are also conducting a letter writing campaign with the same aim of getting IBD recognized as a long term illness under the LTI Scheme.
We are asking that you (and friends, family etc.) please send a letter or email to Minister Harney to this effect, along with opposition parties and your local TD's and Senators, and anyone else who you feel may listen!
Please email ibdcampaignforrights@gmail.com to let us know who you have sent a letter to, and if you require any help with writing your letter we will assist you.
