Reject the proposal for a housing development at Inverkip Power Station Site.
Inverclyde Council will attend a town and country planning meeting in December 2011 to discuss a proposal for a 786 (estimated) Housing development on the site of Inverkip Power Station. The proposal includes plans for a residential, business, community use and small scale retail village. This petition has been started to oppose the planning application on the following grounds: -The A78 road that runs through Wemyss Bay and Inverkip, during rush hour traffic is poorly equipped to accommodate such an increase in traffic (estimated 1296 vehicles). There is also considerable concern for the safety of the road as water drains across the A78 at the brueacre junction, A potential danger of aquaplaning to motorists. -The Inverkip and Wemyss Bay communities are not able to accommodate the increase in demands. The local schools are at capacity, the Doctors surgery have a considerable case load and substantial waiting lists (for appointments), Local pharmacies are unequipped to handle a huge demand, Provisions would need to be sought to accommodate the increase in children's groups and activities. -Wemyss Bay and Inverkip are Villages and the definition of a village includes the phrase "Usually in the countryside" this development will not only potentially amalgamate the two villages but it will also greatly reduce the countryside to housing ratio in the area thus making it one town essentially. This development will be greatly detrimental to the quality of life of all the residents of Wemyss Bay and Inverclyde as it does not enhance the surrounding area it only drains precious little resources available to a small community. These are just a few of my personal views on the development however I would ask that if you would like to add any concerns please add them to the petition!!!!!!!
