Help us keep District 9 State Police, Springfield on the Interstate.
The Governor, as well as the Dirctor of the State Police have decided to move the Illinois State Police from I-55 to downtown Springfield. They refuse to do a Feasability Study to see what impact this will have on the traveling public as well as the out of state visitors. Not to mention the impact on the Trooopers and Dispatchers. A study was done, however, for the move of the Armory Personnel to the Old Franklin Life Building.
The cost of this move is in the millions and in this economic climate, the waste of taxpayer money is wrong. They are talking of focing state employees to take 4 furlough days, pay higher taxes and increasing insurance and retirement. But does anyone realize, ISP employees won't have to take furlough days. So they don't really care. They have to use unused budget money before the end of the fiscal year. If you are an Illinois residence, you should be very angry.
If you, as a public taxpayer, are being chased on the interstate or need assistance while driving I-55, you will not have anyplace to go get police assistance from Litchfield to Bloomington.
The higherups at the Illinois State Police have made many excuses on why this move should take place and all have been lies. The building District 9 are currently in is fine. The cost of moving us is more than fixing the building. The only thing at state is money. Our taxpayer money!
If you want to help us and save goverment money, sign this petition.
Thanks for you help!
The administration continues to ignore our questions about this waste of taxpayer money. Call the Director of the State Police today to demand they halt this move and perform a real impact study.

Ridiculous decision. Who thought moving them away from the highway was a bright idea? Spend that money on fixing what we got instead of wasting it on a move nobody asked for.

I drive that stretch every single day. If I break down or see an accident I want help nearby not 40 minutes away. LEAVE THEM WHERE THEY ARE.

Typical Illinois politics. Raising our taxes and cutting corners while wasting millions on moving offices that dont need to move. Keep the troopers on the road where they belong
