The 176 students of Hola, the children of the
Boys & Girls Club, and the children of the neighborhood sorely
need the installation of new playground equipment on Jefferson Park to
be completed!
- March 2011: The Hoboken City Council unanimously approved and the Mayor signed an ordinance appropriating $1.6 million and bonding a further $1.52 million to improve several parks throughout the city, including the remediation and the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for Jefferson Park, located at 123 Jefferson Street, adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club and HoLa, Hoboken Dual Language Charter School.
- Summer of 2011: The old playground equipment and pavement of Jefferson Park were removed the summer of 2011 and environmental remediation completed.
- September 30, 2011: The City of Hoboken issued a press release stating "The project ... is expected to be completed by the end of 2011."
- October 5, 2011: The City Council awarded the contract to Louis Barbato Landscaping.
- NOW: Despite the warm weather, no construction has happened at the site. There is only an empty sand lot and broken fencing.
We gratefully thank the Mayor and City Council for funding of Jefferson Park. We now respectfully and urgently call on you to see that the installation of the new playground equipment at Jefferson Park is completed as soon as possible.
