JOSEPHS LAW
The Michigan Child Protective Services, do not consider the cutting of a childs eyelashes abuse. It is considered hair. A parent is able to cut a childs hair without the permission of the other parent. The initial thought of cutting a childs eyelashes is ridiculous all together. Eyelashes are ment to help protect the human eyeball and its anatomy from light, dust and harmful objects. When my toddler son came home the first time with the tips of his eyelashes cut off and two vertical bruises on his face, I thought I was looseing my mind. The second time was more severe. His left eyelashes had been cut completly in half and had another vertical bruise on the same side of his face. Now the westland police department,c.p.s,my sons peditrition and his father clearly thought I was "nuts". After 3 months it had grown back. Only for him to come home with now his right eyelashes cut in half. I have a suspect and tons of proof that his eyelashes had been indefinatly cut. Nothing was able to be investigated due to the fact that eyelashes are considered hair. The same medical docter and c.p.s agents whom saw him the first time I reported it to, all agree they had been cut. Due to this guideline in Michigans child abuse handbook, I may never know who caused this harm to my child. It has been almost two years since this incident. The person I suspect is no longer around my children and nothing suspicious like this has happened since. I would like to make sure nothing like this happens to another child, mother, father or family. If for some reason it does I believe they deserve a complete investigation and charges pressed on the suspect. Please help me make this differance.
