Friday, May 30 2014 after band practice Tanaya Copeland went home to change her clothes. Practice is held in the community center of the project where she resided, Pink houses. After changing her clothes she walked down Stanley ave. She was on her way to visit a friend/band mate that resides in Linden project. Tanaya was found by a cab driver on Stanley ave between Elton and Lindenwood, a couple blocks from her destination. She was unconscious and stabbed over 30 times. It's been over a month and NYPD is dragging their feet on working this case. They stated over a month ago there may be a connection to the two small children stabbed two days after Tanaya about two blocks away from her murder scene.
