Kairos High: stop playing politics with our kids
What does Kairos mean to you? For us Kairos is the opportunity to do something radically different in education. Kairos means choice for families. It’s a space to empower students to own their education and shape the direction of their lives and community.
But our families, students, and community are under attack. We’ve already seen one well-connected interest group launch a coordinated campaign to try and kill our 17-$25 million high school investment in south city. They are working to ensure our existing high school students and families won't have access to a facility and will be required to change schools. They want to rob our students of the high quality, public school option they deserve. We need your help to declare in a unified voice: special interests shouldn't play politics with the lives and futures of our students and families.
Please sign our petition if you support high quality school options in St. Louis.
About Kairos
Kairos Academies is a public charter school authorized to serve grades 5-12 in South St. Louis city. Kairos employs a learning model that is wholly unique to St. Louis and the state of Missouri–combining personalized, project-based learning; one-on-one mentors for each student; an intentionally diverse student body and staff; and a restorative approach to student discipline and community building. Since opening in 2019, Kairos students have grown an average of two grade levels for every year in school (2022 PRiME Growth Award Winner, Saint Louis University). Kairos is currently the fourth highest performing LEA (local education agency) in St. Louis city, and the only one in the top four with a low-income student population over 50% (68%).
About The Project
Kairos Academies currently operates one middle and high school at the same site (2315 Miami Street). As our current ninth graders grow into 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, they will outgrow that space. A new, purpose-built facility will ensure they have a full high school program and experience (including a gym, theater, and athletic fields). Our goal is to open our doors to students in Fall of 2024. This project isn’t just an exciting opportunity for our Kairos students and families–this high quality public high school option and state-of-the-art facility will be an asset for all of St. Louis.
