Brentwood Elementary has always been regarded as a welcoming, parent-friendly school.  Unfortunately, this attitude seems to be changing. Beginning last year with the implementation of such policies as the 'hug zone' many parents feel as if our presence on campus is regarded as an undesired nuisance.  This year's lunch visits on Tuesday/Thursday only rule only intensifies this feeling.  Not only is it unfair to limit parents to only 2 specific visiting days it is also unrealistic as many people do not have a great deal of flexibility in their work schedules.  This rule will exclude a great number of parents who wish to spend time with their child(ren) at lunch, but are unable to  visit on those specific days.  The needs of our children must also be taken into consideration.  If a child is having a particularly difficult day then they should be able to have a special lunchtime visit to look forward to no matter which day of the week it is.

    Involved parents are one of Brentwood's greatest assets and should be appreciated not pushed aside.  If you agree that the administration should end the Tuesday/Thursday only lunch rule and return to its original policy of allowing visits Monday through Friday please join us in signing this petition.
