Appeal to Preserve Our Community and Public Courts
Dear Masdar and Active,
We are writing to express our concerns regarding the recent decision to transition the management of the public courts to Active. While we understand the need for monetization and management, this change is inadvertently dismantling a vibrant, organic community that has flourished around these courts.
Currently, the simplicity and accessibility of the public courts make them a unique hub for people from all walks of life. Whether it’s aircraft workers, medical professionals, service personnel, or others with unpredictable schedules, the ability to play without rigid commitments fosters inclusivity and connection.
Under Active’s management, the flexibility we rely on will be replaced by the need to organize around structured schedules—something that doesn’t align with the dynamic lives of many in our community. Despite their proximity, people continue to choose the public courts over Active’s facilities. The reason is clear: it’s not just about the courts themselves but the organic relationships and camaraderie that have grown here over the years.
We urge you to reconsider this decision or work collaboratively with the community to find a solution that maintains the spirit and accessibility of the public courts while addressing your goals. Destroying this community for the sake of monetization would be a significant loss, both for us and for the inclusive ethos that Masdar embodies.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Sincerely,
The Daily Masdar Padel Squad
