The new owner of the property at 14162 Peairs Rd. (Sandy Creek Ranch) has made his intention known to open a corn maze attraction at that location. This business would include pig races, air cannons (shooting pumpkins, water bottles, potatoes, etc. long distances), train rides, paintball, square dancing, and nightly events including a haunted attraction featuring chainsaws. This business has been operating on La. Hwy. 16 in Pine Grove, October through November each year. The owner has announced his intention to move the operation to Peairs Rd. for the 2024 season and expand to add a Christmas tree farm, which would operate through December. We need to preserve the serenity of our community for ourselves and future generations. Members of our community oppose this move due to our concerns regarding traffic issues and the effect of noise on our livestock and peaceful habitation.

Updates

June 11, 2024

I have been spending my evenings talking to neighbors who are worried about how the noise and traffic will change our daily lives. Keeping our livestock safe and our homes peaceful is the only reason I started this. We are currently preparing to present these concerns to the planning board.

June 11, 2024

Seeing this level of support confirms that I am not the only one terrified of losing the quiet life we cherish on Peairs Road. Your commitment to protecting our homes and our animals from this noise is deeply moving. We are showing everyone involved that our community is not just a place to host loud attractions.

My family has been in Pride since the early 1800s. This is not an appropriate activity for the area.

I oppose this business being opened and operated in the rural area. This is a gateway for for other businesses to continue to dismantle the country life setting that so many of us are trying to continue to maintain. The traffic is already atrocious on Greenwell Springs Road thanks to the City of Central going back on its word for the future of its city. This business would only further hinder the destruction of farm based homestead.

We choose to live in rural areas because they provide a quiet and peaceful environment to raise our kids. This would severely impact all of us that call this area home. Many people would take North Joor to commute to this business, the route is a small barely two lane road that is not set up for high traffic. A business like this should not be permitted in the rural area such as this.

This is in the middle of hunting season. No need to disturb any livestock. Keep the traffic away from rural areas. We live here for a reason. Less crime.

Keep our area quiet please!!! As a mother of an autistic child, this is like my worst nightmare moving in!

I live nearby and DO NOT want this near my home. Our road is not equipped for the additional traffic and we built a home because of the peaceful, quiet setting. If this is allowed, I will sell my home, as will my neighbors.
