The city finally backed off and Route 8 is officially ours to keep. I am drained from this fight but incredibly grateful that 461 of you stood by us when the bulldozers were at the gate. We are going to take a moment to breathe before we get back to …

Hi everyone,

My friend and i have been building a skatepark for the past year and a half and unfortunatley its being threatened to be taken down. This park means so much to us because we have made it what it is from completly nothing. Just a slab of concrete covered with mud. If we keep this great place we will be able to give to the skate community. This is very important to us because our area does not have a very big skate scene. Please support the cause every little bit helps!

Thanks

Reaching this point feels surreal after so many long days working on the mud and concrete. It is exhausting to fight for this spot but seeing this level of support keeps me going.

Save this park! That slab didn't mean anything to the town when it was covered in mud but once somebody cleared it and started using it they saw the value again! Leave it there!

Very hard to see that they are trying to get rid of a self made skatepark when there are so much else that there is to worrie about in this state. I am not a skater my self but I ride Bmx and it is the same scene, it is time this state stops looking down on the skate/bike community and focus on bigger problems.

I am a lifetime CT resident and skateboarder, and I commend these individuals for building their own facilitiktu to further the art and sport of skateboarding in CT, a sport now recognized as an Olympic sport. Please allow this great, independent work to move forward.

Please keep this skate park open for the youth of the community. It is a safe haven for kids to enjoy their passion in life rather than be on the streets potentially getting into drugs.

Coming from someone who goes there often, these boys have put in a lot of time and money building this dope spot, this place has been cleaner and better than it ever has been, lets keep it going!

keep the skate park alive!!! The kids aren't being destructive, or causing trouble or hurting people !!! There is so much worse going on out there. The sad part is while "accepted" activities of hiking, fishing, and birding are allowed in that area. Other sporting activities are not allowed.

Don't know anything about this. If it's still relevant. So much was DIY when I was coming up. If we wanted something rad to skate we had to build it ourselves. And we did. Or we rode in traffic. Good luck.
