The budget was approved and the project stays on the timeline. My bones are tired from this fight but the schools finally get the space they need. We will be watching the construction to make sure they actually break ground.

The Whitman Cluster enrollment has grown consistently over the past decade. Pyle’s gym and cafeteria were built for 1,000 students, but the middle school has 1,535 students now. Students have PE classes in hallways, and eat their lunches on hallway floors and in classrooms. Whitman also faces significant space constraints. At almost 2,000 students, Whitman is already well over its current capacity of 1,891, and is expected to grow to more than 2,200 students by 2019.

Our students cannot wait any longer for a solution. Pyle and Whitman enrollments will be even larger than current projections with the expected approval of the Westbard Sector Plan. It is inconceivable to stall these critical infrastructure projects while simultaneously approving Westbard. Maintaining the current schedule for the Pyle and Whitman additions will ensure there is a solution for current enrollment levels AND a solution for new enrollment from Westbard.

We ask you, our elected Montgomery County Council and Board of Education members, to ensure the Pyle and Whitman capacity projects remain funded to continue without delay.

The numbers are rising but the fatigue is setting in for all of us. I need you to push this into your networks right now so we can finally break past the thousand mark.

The overcrowding in our schools is exhausting and the struggle to get officials to listen feels endless. We are nearly at one hundred signatures so please send this link to a few people today to keep our momentum moving.

please fund the Whitman/Pyle facility expansions necessary to accommodate the large # of students. I do not believe it is sanitary for children to eat lunches in hallways, especially when hallways often serve as the PE classroom as well.

If you would just come to Pyle or Whitman between class changes you would see how urgently these additions are needed. Clogged hallways make Washington traffic look like a cake walk. These additions are desperately needed and can not be delayed. Thank you!!!

Our family has lived in the area since 2003 and currently I have a child about to enter Pyle and another who just started Whitman. These schools are already overcrowded, and I believe funding for infrastructure improvements should be prioritized.

As a Whitman Cluster parent it is appalling that the county is willing to approve a poorly considered Westbard Sector plan, with no consideration to the strain that will be placed on the entire Whitman Cluster! Please remember we vote.

Pyle has 1,526 students but its gym, cafeteria, and media center were built for 1,000 students, so students eat lunch in the hallways and classrooms and while gym classes run 5 classes at a time versus the planned 2 PYLE’S ADDITION MUST CONTINUE AS SCHEDULED

We have too many kids in classrooms, and too many kids in the school buildings. Keep the additions on schedule! If you don't have the money to do it, make the developers share the cost, or postpone the development until you have a place to put the kids.

Please don't delay whitman Pyle additions. The schools are too overcrowded.

Properly sized facilities are paramount to a good learning environment. Whitman Cluster schools must be developed to support the current student population and anticipate the growth of up-coming classes. We are failing our students otherwise.
