Kittrell Elementary School has a major traffic problem. For years, many of us have complained to the school, the school district, and the city to fix the problem. People don't follow traffic laws or parking signs, which puts our children in danger.
On Thursday September 3rd, a young girl was struck by a vehicle, proving the danger. Thankfully the child walked away uninjured! During the commotion, I watched two other children, crossing at the cross walk (with no guards) nearly get run over also. Thank goodness another car saw and honked, getting the attention of the driver.
These issues have gone on for years with no attempt for a resolution. I have had children at Kittrell for 5+ years. Since opening the new school, I have begged for a light at Easton and Oregon. I've called the city and no one is willing to help. I've called the PD, no help. I've called the district, no help. I've called the school, no help. Something needs to change!
Join me and sign this petition. Let's be the fire they need to put in a light or additional security to protect our children so something worse doesn't happen!

The safety of our children certainly out weight the cost of a street light, crossing guard or designated drop off lanes. Please don't let the loss of a young life be the catalyst that pushes people into action. Do not let it come to that, it is too high of a price to pay.

They don't need a light there. They need an adult crossing guard with the stop sign that they already put out. Put a light at Hammond & Ridgeway already!!

I see many Buses going to Kittrell school half empty. Can they change the policy on how far you live away to ride he bus to relieve the traffic problems.
This has been a bad traffic area for years. Something needs to be done before a child is killed. Try a traffic light and safety guards

My daughter also goes to kitrell and it is lunacy when I drop my girl off at school. Lunacy. .
