The KRMA board officially voted to restructure their per meeting pay to the proposed limits. I have submitted a formal request for the board to publish the updated compensation policy on their website for public record.

Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency, (KRMA) is responsible for treating wastewater from the four member municipalities of Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais and Aroma Park. Wastewater treatment is also provided to the Village of Manteno and the Village of Chebanse by intergovernmental agreements.

We the undersigned URGE the Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency, (KRMA) board to reduce your per meeting pay to no more than $100 per meeting. Currently each rank-and-file board member makes $600 per monthly meeting attended. Officers get more — $700 for chairman, $650 for vice chairman and $625 for secretary. It was $50 per meeting as of 2007 before it was increased to the present level.
The current level of fees is far higher than what members of other local boards receive, many of whom are unpaid. As an example, county board members are currently paid $70.00 per meeting. KRMA board members current pay is excessive.
The purpose of this petition is to call the KRMA board into action on this issue and to let the board know how the residents feel about their taking advantage of KRMA rate payers.

Our sewer rates are always going up. 6 or 7 board members getting 6 or 7 hundred per meeting. Go figure.
Since at least 2007 this board has shown a lack of oversight and inability to perform due diligence. Over $600 per meeting; $750,000 on bogus software and blind acceptance of inflated lab fees. These are systemic adminitrative problems. Can KRMA be trusted to ensure the cleanliness of our river?
Before any rates are raised the members of this board should reduce their pay as requested. Document firm actionable steps put in place to demonstrate that previous poor financial decision do not happen in the future
As an elected Village of Manteno Trustee I was paid $50 per meeting. $600-700 is outrageous!
The collective cost of each meeting is absurd. $600 to $700 is more than lawyers make per hour. Multiply that fee by number of people at each meeting is equal to college tuition!
Are the meetings all day?!

I'm sure I don't have all the facts, but cannot believe a $600 stipend per monthly meeting can possibly be warranted when compared to other similar government boards. What are the time commitments and expertise that the board members bring to this position that would warrant such and increase?
