Currently, none of the junior highs in RISD, much less Lake Highlands have a "B" basketball team. This means that only 15 kids in each grade are able to play basketball. We are one of the few districts in any category (6A, 5A, 4A, 3A) to not have a B team basketball program. 13-14 year olds develop at different rates. Many good players or ones with potential may not make the team and typically give up on the sport at that point. We are also depleting the talent pool for the high school program.
