The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is ranked the #1 most affirming LGBTQ+ campus in Texas and holds multiple LGBTQ+ groups and resources, such as our own Galerstein Gender Center. However, we do not yet have LGBTQ+-centric Greek Life available to students. This is one of the critiques given to the university by Campus Pride.

By allowing us to decree the Lambda Delta Xi Gamma (LDXG) chapter, we can foster a familial, all-inclusive environment for students in a region that is not traditionally inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community. LDXG advocates for LGBTQ+ education, awareness and overall community which is what we plan to tackle at the UTD campus.

UTD would also prove to be a appropriate home for a Greek life with a national philanthropy like the Trevor Project. We have multiple resources to aid those struggling with mental health such as the Counseling Center. They offer six or more sessions as needed just for being a student, as well as on-campus psychiatrists. However, even with strong mental health resources on campus, there are still evident mental health struggles among our student body.

In view of these concerns, it would be beneficial for our university to have a Greek organization dedicated to raising awareness for and supporting the Trevor Project. Decreeing the Gamma Chapter of Lambda Delta Xi at UTD will strengthen LGBTQ+ pride within our student body and enhance our mental health resources for struggling LGBTQ+ students.
