I was just recently informed that I have to wear a dress at graduation or I will not be able to sit with my class on graduation day, or walk. I have dressed more masculine than feminine my whole high school career, my whole life even. And I think it would be completely unfair to make me wear a dress when it has never been a problem before.

I honestly never thought this would turn into such a big thing but seeing all these people backing me up feels incredible (and a little bit terrifying honestly). It is just wild that the simple idea of wearing pants is getting this much attention and I am really starting to think maybe the school might actually listen for once.

This is Abi’s day, as long as the clothes are nice I don’t see why she has to wear a dress. This is 2019 time to get with this generation of love and acceptance Waccamaw High School.
This is unacceptable. As long as anything these kids wear isn’t trashy or provocative let them be free to choose
this is ridiculous. you should be able to dress how you want. waccamaw can’t tell you who you should be. they should be more worried about education than what people wear. that just shows you what kind of school waccamaw is. you can be whoever you want and no one can tell you otherwise PERIOD
As a grown person, they should be allowed to make a choice regarding how to dress for graduation, and the school should have no right to require a gender to wear specific garments. school should be a place where diversity and individuality is praised not restricted.
Please let this petition not only help abi wear a suit but any other student in the years to come.

This is ridiculous, Abby should be able to wear whatever is comfortable for her to wear! I bet if a boy wanted to wear a dress and he supposedly identified as a girl they would not have a problem. That’s backwards thinking. As long as it fits the guidelines for dress attire it should be allowed. I love ya Ab’s.
